Huck is a more complex character than Tom. So I think it depends on what you want; but I do think you could read either first! I enjoy Tom Sawyer but Huck Finn is a masterful book.
Cather though...I deeply love Cather. I don't think I can choose between Cather and Twain!
This is the kind of thoughtful comment that I love. Thank you! I've only read a few by Cather, but I think she is wonderful! But I also have never read Twain. So many hard decisions. The year of books gets filled so quickly each year because there are so many good books!
