Hello Reading Friends,
I am popping in here quickly to give you the run down of what we do around here and some helpful links to get you started so that you can participate with our reading community!
Hello to New Followers
Book Drop Day (here is the short list)was a huge success and because of the generous contribution of some fellow Substackers (
, , , and to name a few) we have a lot of new faces around here. If you have gotten excited about the new year of reading (I know I did!) I wanted to let you know that you don’t have to wait til September to start reading along with us! We still have three books left from this past reading year (you can see the whole list here)…June- The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
July- East of Eden by John Steinbeck
August- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
How to Get Involved
Feel free to simply read along and follow the Substack posts! But, if you are longing for more literary community we have some options.
Find out if there is a group in your area
Start a group in your area (from scratch or from a church or school group that already exists)…I can definitely help you get started
Join our virtual option with monthly video chats!
Please reach out to me if any of these options are intriguing to you!
What to Expect from Substack
Weekly
On Wednesdays: Book Club Posts from one of our team (
, , or myself) . These will include introductions to the book, short author bios and resources, midway through the book thoughts, and discussion points and questions. On Mondays: A Reading Revisited Podcast Episode (hosted by
and I, but with plenty of guests from the various book clubs and bookish internet)
Monthly (on Fridays)
Reading Schedule for the current book (read however works for you, but this is how we will be posting)
Literary Musing (a slightly more thought out essay type post by me or a fellow team member) about a book we have read before (or something more topical)
Monthly Bookshelf (by the RR Team Members)
Monthly Commonplace (by the RR Team Members)
If you enjoy seeing other things I am enjoying on the internet then hop on over to my (and my teammates) Notes and I’ll be sure to share links and other writers and books I’m enjoying.
May we all be reminded of the truth, beauty, and goodness that good books can provide! Enjoy your reading until we meet again!
