Miscellany #10
in case you missed the announcements....
Hello Again Reading Friends,
If you’ve noticed that it’s been a little quieter around here lately, you might know why if you listened to our latest podcast! If you didn’t get a chance to listen yet, I am pregnant! It is all very exciting and we are eager to welcome Hartley #7 this Advent! However, I have been very sick (which is my normal) and definitely a bit slower to get things done. Hopefully as I head into second trimester things will get a little bit more active around here! Thank God for Hannah Suire and Jessica Risma for picking up the slack. Also the pool is open and apparently I can read and write at the pool without getting (super) nauseous. So if you need me….you know where to find me!
Also, we got a puppy. His name is Ody (short for Odysseus, obviously). He is adorable (and so is my husband, Aaron Hartley) which is the only reason he got to come to our house during a sick first trimester. He is acclimating well, though peeing in my house a bit more than I’d appreciate. He is still learning his manners, but overall pretty good dog. Though his maturity is definitely closer to Telemachus than Odysseus currently. He is an Mini Australian Shepherd (Calypso from Bluey…if you partake) and has high energy, but will be perfect when he is properly train, I am assured. Anyone else have any fun literary pet names going on?

Random Things I’m Enjoying
Olaf Presents….Maybe I am late to the game here, but my 6 year old was sick yesterday and showed me these shorts of Olaf acting out Disney stories and I thought it was pretty funny!
We are in the middle of our second family Marvel Movie Marathon and it is pretty fun! I am not claiming that these movies are works of high art, but I am here for the fun good vs. evil and some of the comedy is great!
If you have not been following Meredith Hinds’ Captain’s Logs from Summer Break, then you are missing out. Here is Day 1 and then follow her and keep reading! If you need a reminder of how funny/fun life with kids can be, this will help you see the fun!
I loved The Bad Moms Homeschool Summer Reading (for Mom) Challenge. Yes, the kids should be reading over the summer, but so should you! Make it fun!
And last, but certainly not least, Griffin Gooch announced that him and his wife are also expecting a baby and I absolutely LOVED his take on bringing kids into a less than perfect world. So whether its #1 or #7 (or anywhere in between or maybe more), maybe a baby is a good idea!
And with that, I hope you have a lovely Sunday spend with family, friends, books, and maybe a pool!
Till next time,
Kelsie Hartley
Until next time, keep revisiting the good books that enrich your life and nourish your soul.
